Who selects the teams and leaders? |
|
|
Since its inception in 1976, Jesus Youth has had a unique way of functioning with the leadership of teams and leaders discerned from among youth groups. They in turn work in submission and with accountability to the bodies in the CCR ( Catholic Charismatic Renewal) and the local Church. Because the CCR has its official elected bodies at the regional, national, international levels, Jesus Youth also follows the same system, taking tips from the guidelines of the C.C.R. The system of selection of leaders in the CCR has been approved by the Vatican in the case of ICCRS and the selection of the various national Service Committees or Service Teams by the respective National Bishops’ Conferences. Following the same spirit of the CCR, the leaders and Coordinating Teams in Jesus Youth are not appointed but selected through a discernment process by the community, with the assistance of a team. There are Service Teams at all levels - an International Service Team, Jesus Youth National Teams, the regional or state service teams and in places where the movement has really taken root, zonal and sub-zonal teams. The service teams have a stipulated term of functioning, and new teams selected subsequently.
