Why do we need Jesus Youth when there is an official youth organization in a Parish/Diocese? |

There are a variety of charisms and working styles operative in the Church and this Catholicity is the secret of its richness and depth. Young people also need different groups and styles to serve the church effectively. The presence of a variety of religious institutes testifies to this reality. The attitude of the official church is to encourage a variety of movements and private associations of the faithful that collaborate with the hierarchy. The unique charism Jesus Youth is helping youth discover the joy of growing in discipleship through prayer, the Word of God, sacraments and fellowship with an objective of an evangelistic commitment. The movement has a special vocation of challenging youth to be a leaven in their living and working situations and helping them to be forces of mission and renewal. Helping other youth organizations in the Church to be effective and growing is the integral part of Jesus Youth work. This is why Jesus Youth asks its own members to collaborate actively and be part of other Catholic movements. This is made possible by the informal nature of Jesus Youth organization and working style. Though Jesus Youth differs from other youth movements in the Church in charism, many of its active members are involved in other youth movements. In India, Jesus Youth is invited for all the youth consultations organized by the youth commission of CBCI and other local bodies. The collaboration and close interaction with International movements like Taizé, Focolare, Sante’gidio, Youth Arise International etc. help Jesus Youth movement widen its vision and make its ministry more effective.
